TRANSPORT IS ABOUT JOURNEYS
COME AND JOIN OURS

After many years of planning and preparation, Dundee Museum of Transport is now entering an exciting new phase that will see us move into the beautiful and historic Maryfield Tram Depot.

With over £5 million invested in this next chapter, strong media interest, and passionate community support, restoration work is bringing this iconic and much-loved building back to life.

But we still need to raise over
£1 million.

Through inspiring exhibitions and events, community learning programmes, and a growing oral history archive, the new museum will give us the platform to tell Dundee’s transport stories like never before.

Help us make it happen.

Maryfield tram depot

Built in 1901, Maryfield Tram Depot is the largest relic of Dundee’s iconic tram era. After serving the city for most of the twentieth century, this historic and beautiful Grade B listed building sadly fell into disrepair.

We are bringing it back to life.

With your help, Maryfield will once again serve the city, this time as a major tourism destination and cultural asset for the community.

Dundee Museum of Transport

At our current home in Market Mews, we have established a welcoming visitor experience, often described as a ‘hidden gem’ for fun family days out and nostalgic trips down memory lane.

Our hugely popular special events, learning programmes, community engagement activities and dedicated volunteer programme help us share Dundee’s transport stories while inspiring visitors of all ages.

At Maryfield, we anticipate welcoming 50,000 visitors each year, creating 30 jobs, offering over 100 volunteer opportunities, and generating more than £2.5 million annually for the local economy.
