Is the museum open?

Standard opening hours in 10am to 4.30pm Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday from November to February, and 10am to 4.30pm Wednesday to Monday from March to October.

Can I hire a vehicle from the museum?
-------

Unfortunately, as most of the museum’s collection are loaned to us, we are unable to hire out vehicles. For vintage buses, contact the Stagecoach Heritage Fleet: www.stagecoachbus.com/promos-and-offers/east-scotland/vintage-bus-hire or Henry, the vintage 8-seater bus: www.henrytours.co.uk

Am I allowed to sit in the vehicles?
-------

Whilst most vehicles allow the inside to be viewed, we do not permit sitting in these vehicles due to the age and the fact that many are loaned to the museum from collectors or enthusiasts.

Are dogs permitted?
-------

Yes, dogs are welcome at the museum, but they are not allowed to drive the vehicles!!!

I am planning to visit the museum.
Can I pay by card?
-------

Yes, cash or card payment are accepted.

Do you allow larger parties to visit?
-------

Yes, but it is always better to book in advance so we can ensure we have the correct number of staff and guides available. Groups of 10+ persons received a discount. We can also host corporate events, school parties, birthday parties and specialist group visits. We can also provide catering on a small scale if required.

Are trade stands allowed at museum events?
-------

Yes, trade stands are welcome but please contact us direct to confirm availability of space.

How accessible is the museum?
-------

We have worked hard within the restriction of the building to make sure that the museum is accessible by installing ramps and a disabled toilet facility. If you have any specific requirement, please contact us.

​

What is the latest admission time?
-------

The museum closes at 4:30pm. We recommend you arrive no later than 4pm to view our fantastic range of vehicles and exhibitions.

Is photography in the museum permitted?
-------

Photography is encouraged! Please feel free to take as many photographs as you wish and share them on social media with your friends. We are keen that as many people as possible know about our “gem” of a museum. You can tag us on facebook, twitter and Instagram #dmoft #dundeemuseumoftransport

I am interested in volunteering at the museum but not sure if my skills are needed. What should I do and who should I contact?

Please contact us on museumassistant@dmoft.co.uk or call us on 01382 455196 to arrange a chat with a member of our team. We have many different areas that you can volunteer for such as front of house, archive, office administration, build and restoration teams.

Does the museum do outside visits to groups or organisations?
-------

Yes, we are happy to do talks to promote the museum and local transport history. Requests should be sent to museumassistant@dmoft.co.uk or call us on 01382 455196.

Do you offer private vehicle storage?
-------

Yes, the current rate for storing vehicles is

Bus/Large Vehicle - £60 per month

Car - £36 per month
