The Dundee and Arbroath Railway opened in October 1838, when a 19-year-old Queen Victoria had been on the throne for just 15 months. Today it forms part of the east coast main line, while retaining what is said to be the oldest operational station in Scotland, at Broughty Ferry. Neale takes us through its fascinating history.
