Sunday, 5 September 2021, 10:00am - 4:30pm
Come along on Sunday, 5 September to check out the 4 x 4 vehicles used in emergency response in Tayside. Following severe winters between 2009-2012, a network of 4 x 4 response teams was set up across the UK to assist statutory organisations in providing services when road conditions are impassable. Set up in 2010, Tayside 4 x 4 Response has supported the NHS, Police, Scottish Fire and Rescue, and other local authorities by helping staff get into communities to provide essential services when road conditions were so bad that standard vehicles could not reach some areas.
Tayside 4 x 4 Response provides support by recruiting and training volunteers who own 4 x 4 vehicles suitable for working in the harshest environments, from the glens of Angus to the hills of Perthshire and everywhere in between.
On 5 of September, members of the response team will bring their vehicles to the museum and share information about the charity and its mission. Sit in the vehicles, tests out the sirens, and be a rescuer for the day! Event is free for members or with museum admission.
