Volunteering opportunities

Could you spare a few hours a week to volunteer with our visitor services team? We’re currently looking for front of house volunteers to welcome visitors, issue tickets, serve in our shop and café, and act as guides around the museum.

If you’re looking for a new challenge in 2022 then get in touch with our volunteer co-ordinator to find out how you can become part of this friendly team.

We’ll provide full training and a uniform, and support you to make the most of this opportunity as you support the museum to share Dundee’s transport heritage.

ABOUT

the museum

We are an independent museum which preserves the transport heritage of Dundee and the surrounding areas. We reflect the past, showcase classic vehicles and look forward to a net-zero, sustainable, transport future reflecting Dundee as a forward-thinking city. We aim to educate and inspire visitors, giving them a memorable, hands-on experience whilst they explore the museum’s collections, exhibits, interactive displays and activities.

Led by trustees and a small staff team, the museum is also very dependent on the commitment, time, and energy of its volunteers who bring many years of experience and skills to the team.

We look forward to seeing you!

Visited here on a family trip to Dundee. What a great little museum. It’s packed with great vehicles and interesting displays. The staff were absolutely brilliant and really made the visit even better.

They have a one way system in place and it works really well. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is there and really cool to see in the flesh.

The staff are all volunteers and it shows with their enthusiasm and we’re on hand to answer any questions and tell stories about their interesting finds. They even let our son sit in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Fire Engine which he was thrilled about.

I would highly recommend a visit here if you are in Dundee
