Dundee Museum of Transport is delighted to announce that we now have a fantastic selection of rally cars on display for a limited time over winter!
One of the cars on loan is a super looking Triumph TR7, upgraded to a TR8.
It was made by the now defunct British Leyland and contains a 3.5 v8 Rover engine with a Rover 5 Speed-box, fitted springs, suspension fitted with Gaz shock absorbersand an interior with half roll-cage special seats and seat belts.
British Race Driver Tony Pond used many of these cars during the 1976-1978 World Rally Championships. Sadly, the TR8 series did not sell well but their popularity was well received in the rallies.
There are eight rally cars for you to enjoy on your visit, with lots of information provided.
The museum is currently open Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday, 1030am – 330pm. Group visits can be arranged outside of these opening hours by appointment by emailing email@example.com with your preferred date and time.
We are excited to announce the launch of our new annual passes! The annual passes offer great value for families, couples and adults as they can be used all year round and are valid during our special day-time events including the Steam Weekends, Bus & Coach Day and Emergency Vehicle Day.
Passes can be purchased at the museum or in our online shop here: https://www.dmoft.co.uk/product-category/annual-pass/
With sunnier days ahead of us (fingers crossed!) you can visit the museum SIX DAYS per week (Tues – Sun, 10:30am -3:30pm) until the end of October. For this season we are delighted to announce that we have a number of new exhibits to see including a fantastic display of motorbikes- the earliest dating back to 1912 – and our biggest programme of events to date! With plenty to see and do we hope to see you at the museum soon.
We are now open Tuesday to Sunday 10.30am to 3.30pm here at Dundee Museum of Transport at Market Mews!
Admission charges for this season are £4.00 per adult, £2.00 per child and we now have a family ticket for £10.00 which allows access for 2 adults and 2 children.
We have a lot planned this year, with many new exhibitions- so come along, join in and support us in our mission!
Unfortunately, due to the extreme weather we have had recently, it has exacerbated the problems we have been having with the roof of our temporary premises here at Market Mews. As such, we have taken the decision to close the museum, effective immediately, to repair the leaking areas of the roof before long term damage is done, and to also carry out a general refurbishment of the exhibition halls and café which wouldn’t be possible if we were to remain open to the public.
It was our original intention to close for a maximum of two weeks towards the end of January to allow us to carry out a much-needed refresh of the premises. However, with the issues we have been having recently that have been touched upon, we feel that this is the best course of action to take and we will be able to carry out these tasks in one fell swoop prior to the summer season. These works will be undertaken solely by our build team that are made up of dedicated volunteers.
We understand that this may hamper some of your plans and we sincerely apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause whilst we carry out these works. Please keep checking our social networks and the website for periodic updates.
At present, we will be reopening on Wednesday 2nd February at 10.30am, subject to progress.
Commencing tomorrow until 25 April 2015, we will be reducing our opening hours to reflect the off-season.
Don’t fret though, we still have one big event left next weekend! Steam Weekend on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 September.
After months of preparation, we are extremely happy to finally announce details of our entry fees and membership programme! It can be regarded as one of the final pieces in our jigsaw puzzle prior to opening.
As a member of Dundee Museum of Transport you will not only gain free access to the museum but you will also enjoy exclusive benefits as well as becoming a valid contributor and supporter. You will receive a periodic newsletter as well as other benefits which are yet to be announced. Memberships run on a one year basis and are valid up until 31st March 2015.
