Frequently Asked Questions
When will the museum re-open?
The current Coronavirus outbreak has forced the closure of our museum and most other tourist venues. There is no information coming from Government as yet on the likely length of the closure but we will keep everyone informed via this site and through our social media outputs as soon as we have more information.
Can I hire a vehicle from the Museum?
Unfortunately, as most of the Museum’s collection are loaned to us, we are unable to hire out vehicles. For vintage buses, contact the Stagecoach Heritage Fleet: www.stagecoachbus.com/promos-and-offers/east-scotland/vintage-bus-hire or Henry, the vintage 8-seater bus: www.henrytours.co.uk
Am I allowed to sit in the vehicles?
Whilst most vehicles allow the inside to be viewed, we do not permit sitting in these vehicles due to the age and the fact that many are loaned to the museum from collectors or enthusiasts.
Are dogs permitted?
Yes, dogs are welcome at the museum, but they not allowed to drive the vehicles!!!
I am planning to visit the Museum. Can I pay by card?
Yes, cash or card payment are accepted.
Do you allow larger parties to visit?
Yes, but it is always better to book in advance so we can ensure we have the correct number of staff and guides available. Groups of 10+ persons received a discount. In the past, we have had corporate events, school parties, birthday parties and some specialist group visit which have been well received. We can also provide some catering on a small scale if required.
Are trade stands allowed at Museum events?
Yes, trade stands are welcome but please contact us direct to confirm availability of space.
How accessible is the museum?
We have worked hard within the restriction of the building to make sure that the Museum is accessible by installing ramps and a disabled toilet facility. If you have any specific requirement, please contact us.
What is the latest admission time?
The Museum closes at 3:30pm. We recommend you arrive no later than 3pm to view our fantastic range of vehicles and exhibitions.
Is photography in the Museum permitted?
Photography is encouraged! Please feel free to take as many photographs as you wish and share them on social media with your friends. We are keen that as many people as possible know about our “gem” of a museum. You can tag us on facebook, twitter and Instagram #dmoft #dundeemuseumoftransport
